Twenty years after the initial spread of the pandemic Cordyceps Brain Infection (CBI), the remaining 40% of survivors have done what they can to survive. Many survivors live in quarantine zones, though pockets of survivors have settled in abandoned buildings to make a new home for themselves. Supplies are constantly in demand and, as such, have created factions among the survivors: the Fireflies, an anti-government militia group dedicated to finding a cure and taking down FEDRA; the Hunters, known for their animalistic brutality, that want nothing more than to keep their territories safe from outsiders; FEDRA, a government organization that created and now struggle to maintain the established quarantine zones; and Independent survivors, who are trying to rebuild society as it once was.
Based on the online multiplayer game The Last of Us: Factions, TOWARD THE LIGHT centers on the quarantined city of Chicago. The roleplay will focus on the daily lives and struggles of the survivors.
