So I put my faith in something unknown I'm living on such sweet nothing But I'm tired of hope with nothing to hold I'm living on such sweet nothing Blue skies filled the morning lit skies that day, the sun rising high embracing the surrounding areas in a pillar of soft warm rays. The description travelers gave of Chrysós didnt shy away from the truth. It was a bustling port of entertainment and commerce, shops lined the cobbled stoned streets each side has its own array of vendors selling their goods. It's citizenry rose up to do their daily toils before the morning birds could even arose from their slumber. It was a day like this that Anise decided it was to venture into the bustling metropolis to retrieve some supplies she's sadly beginning to run out. It's been awhile since she checked her inventories, last time the girl recalled as she maneuvered her way past a man peddling baskets filled with fleshly baked loaves the sound of vendors hollering their calls of merchandise towards the sea of shoppers browsing their early morning shopper. Ironically the self proclaimed recluse has to join this sea of bodies in order to fulfill her appointed errands. Personal as they may be, with the slight shift of air ruffling the cloth fabric of her beige outfit hidden underneath the protective warm of her brown cloak its native markings etched onto the cloth was an odd sight in the stream of bodies notably dressed in the latest fashion available. She sighed softly, letting a dabble of sunlight hit her porcelain skin as she lifted her head over to view the large tower clock in the middle of the square. Soon she would have to make haste in order to get everything she needed before her dear brother begins to suspect her whereabouts it wouldnt be pretty, she can assure people that what her brother would do when he finds her missing is nothing but a complete chaos she would be in-charge of cleaning. Anise hated work without gaining something from it. It was just... not in her planned agenda. Her head turned from side to side surveying the vendors and the wares they presented for something that interested the pink haired young woman. Another thing about her and the difficulty in garnering her interest in matters perhaps this is why her brother never included her in political affairs but that didnt mean the child was oblivious to the world around her. She had her ways... no matter how questionable they may be, "Fresh vegetables for sale!! get them while they're fresh!" "Fresh meat!! Fresh from the forest to your door!" "Herbs and spices!!" The mixture of voices spilled into her ears mixed with surrounding sounds of the waking city created a wailing mix of noises that rang through her sensitive eardrums, scents of herbs along with food being cooked on an open fire made the early morning market scene all the more real in her eyes. It's real from the start. She held back a sigh, forcing her feet to move onwards as she mentally checked her mental list. Oils, herbs, pen ink... the list went in her mind. This was going to take awhile... its now that she regretted taking a map. MADE BY VEL OF GS

◤ | ◥ | like you always say, | "safe travels, don't die." | With an apple in had, Starling stared up into the sky as he rested beneath the shade of a building. The sun was out and blaring upon the populace below and offering them some warmth to counteract the cool air that swept through. He was greatful for the warmth as it only made his time in Chrysos more enjoyable. However, he was not here without reason nor did he travel alone. Hessat was around somewhere and though he was told not to stray very far the fox had disobeyed and went to see what this city had to offer.
Which so far proved to be tons of loud people and a wonderful market place that had deilicous apples. Too bad he didn't have the funds to purchase the fruit but who needed money when you had a five finger discount? As long as you weren't caught then it wasn't considered stealing. This thought only made him smile. Pushing himself from the wall and tossing the apple core over one shoulder he went exploring in the markets. Maybe he could find a new leather vest that might not be as itchy as his current one. Heck, even a bandana would be nice to hide his long ears. He was a bit annoyed that Hessat took that from him with something on the lines it made it easier for him to find Starling. It wasn't the fox's fox that he was born with massive ears that made him stick out like a sore thumb!
"Fresh herbs!"
"Carrots! Carrots!"
"Blades! Come, and see these fine hand-made weapons!"
The word blades instantly caught his attention. Not because he didn't own any, on the contrary, he owned a few such as a bow and the small blade he carried on his person during outtings outside Lila. But the idea of seeing someone elses work always caught his attention. The fox made a bee line to the work and forced his way in to see what this man might of crafted.
Taking a single look at a short sword made the blacksmith cringe. "Fine, indeed." The Strain mocked the man under his breath. The weapons he was viewing was made from cheap steel that no more then break the moment it made contact with a Lurker. Anyone that bought a sword from this fellow was signing his death warrant. In disgust he looked over the blade and held it to the light. Thin, overly designed, and the blade looked as dull as a childs wooden sword.
Annoyed by the mans out brust about the swords being the best in the world caused Starling to roll his eyes and drop the blade on the stall like he did the apple core. "I could produce better arms in my sleep." It was time to look at other items but the vendor heard the strains words. "What did you say?" he asked with a bit of shock and irritation. Starling on the other hand looked over his shoulder as he was turning to leave. "I said, in short, that your arms are as good as a ordnate wooden spoon." The starling probably should of used his words better when he noticed the vendors face turning red as an open fire. Ah oh, he was about to cause a scene, wasn't he?
"How dare you!" Yep, it was coming. Sighing, Starling laid his ears back into his hair to try and block out the sudden screams. "These are perfectly good swords. Now get out of here you, disgusting creature! You shouldn't even be touching these! What do you even know of smithing?" Now the Red had to weigh his options. Should he take the abuse given to him or shove it back into the man's throat? Well, seeing as he just obiviously called him a monster and an ignorate person he couldn't let him go on that.
Turning on his heels, he took a blade in hand and pointed out every single error from the way it was designed, the density of the steel and even went as far as slamming the blade onto the table which promptly broke it in two. There was a light pause between the parties involved. "Oh shit." That was the only word in the Strains head that sounded off as an alert to get his ass out of there. Smiling widly as the crowd stared at the broken blade in horror, Starling ran for it.
The shouts of the vendor alarmed many that one, he was very unhappy about people suddenly wanting their money back. Secondly, that someone needed to catch the monster that broke his swords as well as pay for the damages. Starling was just lucky that no one was going to chase him and he eventually found cover behind a fruit stand. Looking around and catching his breath. Starling then let out a heavy sigh with the knowledge he was safe and, "Oh, an apple." Once again, a five finger discount happened to be in his favor.

So I put my faith in something unknown I'm living on such sweet nothing But I'm tired of hope with nothing to hold I'm living on such sweet nothing Trouble often followed the girl like an obedient tail closely attached to her hind quarters. The winds shifted, the air thickened with tenseness as she paused for a moment to glimpse the gathering crowds. Her ears twitched, voices broke through the scenic market dabbles like a knife slicing though room temperature butter. She weighed in her choices at that brief passing of time. To let her curious nature whom had been rouse from its slumber to view the offending scene that tarnished her relaxing break. Or to turn a blind eye and walk away without batting one of those long lashes lining her oceanic colored eyes. She in all state of logic found no reason to get involve in petty mundane squabbles created by the citizenry of such a bigotry race. Ouch... She didn’t flinch at the insult she threw at her brethren—the thought made her scoff, turning heel away from the loud, shrilled yells coming from within the growing crowd she took note how fast it attracted the others towards the scene. Like moths casually being drawn to a flame a few shadows played within the crowds, she caught their quick systematic movements plucking at the wallets of those unsuspected souls. Oh someone was going to have a lighter purse later on but that didn’t worry the young girl. Hell she couldn’t care less as she presented just now when she ignored the whispering crowds followed by the cry of outrage that fueled the crowds desire to stay. It was beginning to cause her head to ache. She sighed softly, “Ahh that man never learns does he?” She heard the old lady manning the fruit store commented. Blue orbs blinked ever so slightly, letting her lashes fluttered as she glanced up impassively. “I’m guessing this happens often then?” She queried, eyeing the ripened shade of the tomatoes and apples while she contemplated on purchasing a few for dinner tonight. Tomato soup and maybe some venison cuts, Lucifer wont mind the girl thought. Her dear brother wasn’t a picky eater even for man of a fate she simply didn’t bother understanding. The woman snorted hearing her comment. “Oh more than a few times.” Chuckled the aged lady, taking one of the apples she had on display and a cloth from her side the woman then began polishing it as she continued to speak. “Many things happens in this market child, that’s how we keep things interesting.” It was there Anise made a mental note to study more about human interaction. She shook her head lightly motioning towards the apples and tomatoes. “I’ll take five of each...” She spoke, already digging through her coin purse for the required gems. The old woman settled the apple down as she began bagging the girl’s purchase. “That’s be 10 gems dear.” She said. Handing the money over the girl made quick farewells. She had a lot still on her list that needed to be dealt with. This wasn’t even part of it more of a side trip than anything else. She followed the path just as the thicket of people began to dim down to a few walking down the streets vendors still flocked the each side trying to outsell each other. She looked around, turning her head side to side as her face held its eternal mask of boredom. As she prepared herself to look towards the right side, she remembered having purchased some of the things she needed right around this alley something, twitched from behind one of the stands, her sharp eyes quickly locked onto the target. A cat perhaps? Curious she approached, her steps falling silent to the many feet walking through the same ground she did as she moved closer. Let’s just say it’s a rare ordeal for her to be caught off guard. It wasn’t something she’d like either. Her eyes grew wide, for that moment she allowed herself the brief luxury of her mask cracking from the site that beheld her to the ground. Fox ears sitting upon the hair of a light haired gentleman, she cant be mistaken...right? But he’s dead... no one could have survive those rapids but they never found a body either. Crud...Anise felt the coming of a headache as she silently moved over, without warning, she literally told hold of his ears and pulled stretching it at either sides, there was a second reason she was doing this, she had to make sure before she outrights gets the temptation to be the devil incarnate. ◤ | ◥ | like you always say, | "safe travels, don't die." | After his tasty discount was collected he ventured off to a less then populated area. He choose to take safe haven in a small ally and set on one of the many crates in that area. He gave a small sigh of relief now knowing he was out of sight and could relax while he waited to return to Lila. There was nothing he could purchase here and god knew what Hessat was doing. The purple clansmen would find him eventually and probably be pissed about it too, as normal.
Idly, the fox chewed on his apple a little bit each minute. Closing his eyes, he took in the sounds around him to become better accustomed to them now that he had his peace. Though as always, his peace would soon be interrupted but he did not expect it to be interrupted in the way of a woman. He cracked his eyes open and turned towards her from the enterance of the ally. She was staring hard at him and he couldn't help but feel as if he had been caught doing something very, very wrong. Confusion sunk into him, why was this girl staring at him so intently?
He opened his mouth to speak to her right then. He wanted to know why she was just gawking and before the words could leave his lips she was there beside him and yanking on his ears. "Ah, damn! Stop that!" He declared with horror. "What are you doing?" A struggle took place for a mere half a minute but it was enough to give Anise what she wanted.
Behid one of his ears was a mark as clear as the blue sky that showed where he truly belonged and it was not in Chrysos or Lila. Managing to free himself, he used his free hand to rub his poor injuried ears. A look of hurt crossed his features while pulling back incase she went in for a second time. "Geez, what was that for lady?"
"Did I do something wrong and why the ears? That hurt a lot just so you know."

So I put my faith in something unknown I'm living on such sweet nothing But I'm tired of hope with nothing to hold I'm living on such sweet nothing It’s still fresh in her mind singing along with the songs of the passing breeze, leaves rustled through its playful touch following it like mice being led by the tune of the piper’s flute. An image it was imprinted the scene of the crime in her mind. Blood crimson color dotted the greenery of the grass close to the river like tiny melted rubies glinting in the bright sun. They searched for him for days, then it went to searching for his body following the river’s current. Her clan still came back empty. Weeks slowly shifted into two months still no word of his whereabouts. Dammit, Anise cussed to herself, echoing the offending words through vestige inside her head, her choice of words could easily make a man of the seas flush green in envy. Things she learned from being in a wild clan, words uttered on a day to day basis that she took it as her own through a more silent means than her vocal companions. All Anise could do was stare, blinking as the disbelief clouded the pretty hues of those delicate blues marring the poker-face façade she held fast on her face. She couldn’t believe it, “Cy-Cyrus...” The words just escaped without her prior permission. Shock froze her brain into a standstill. She tried shaking off the numbness to force it back into action but she’s met with a defiance like no other as she gulped. Crud, she was supposed to be the ice queen of the red clan, breaking her mind was not on that aorta! Until his words broke through the barrier of her ears did she allowed the quick reprieved to finally be able to fully react. Oh yes...she did pull those damn ears of his in a rather forceful way, the bastard... she had the urge to force down the multiple twitching of her eyelid a sign of irritation she long buried in there after his disappearance. So... All the worried filled nights was all for naught, oh this bastard was going to get it! Anise schooled her mask back into its impregnable look of eternal boredom, the sounds echoing through the busy market place was all but pushed through the back burner. “Oh I just thought you look familiar.” She shrugged, inciting the beginning of a game she started to form through the inner workings of her mind. You can call it, Anise’s way of garnering a much needed retribution. She hated...being rendered into a worried pile causing her sleepless night to gain a foothold through her nights. She would be lying if she said she HAD a peaceful night thanks to this bastard, if this was the bastard... but she couldn’t be mistaken, that mark proved it on his hear, mimicking in exact likeness to the one hidden on her ankle. He wouldn’t be able to see that underneath the bandages the girl hid it with. Oceanic colored eyes kept their attention on him. He yanked her grip away from his pained ears, her arms fell back to her side. Lifting her right to look at her nails as if they suddenly grew more interesting than looking back at the fox eared strain. And from the way he reacted to her, she deduced he didn’t recognize her. That in all honestly disappointed the reclusive strain. Nonetheless her brother would have her up and explaining after this anyway. “Just thought they were interesting, it’s not every day you see fox ears on people.” The girl added, letting the sliver of innocence touch the girl’s tone. Conniving little brat she is and just as tricky as a honeyed tongue snake. “Though...” Moving her face closer to his. “You really do look familiar? Say don’t you recognize me?” MADE BY VEL OF GS

◤ | ◥ | like you always say, | "safe travels, don't die." | The ears! God the ears! Why did everyone go for his ears when they where upset with him or curious? Couldn't they just ask to touch them instead of trying to remove them from his head. Hadn't they any idea how bad it hurt? He had nerves there for heavens sake!
Being free from her grasp was a sudden joy but the now looked at her with a bit of fear in his eyes. He had long lost the apple he had been eating to the ground. Both of his hands where now occupied rubbing the pain from both fox appendiges. "If I looked familiar you could of just asked for my name." The soft voice was the same angelic tone of Cyrus, the man she knew as where his looks. Everything about him screamed that he was the person she might of been looking for but his actions where different.
He showed no signs of knowing her in any form. He pulled back from her in order to keep her from grabbing at him and most of all, he looked startled. "And who is Cyrus? I feel bad for that poor guy if he stood you up. Geez." Lowering his hands from his injuries his ears pressed against his skull in defense. He looked very much like a hurt kitten at that moment.
He didn't understand this girl before him and well, who was she? He supposed her reaction was kinda of normal if she hadn't seen anyone else with ears like his that stood out a mile from his head. Still, that didn't warrant her trying to remove them from his skull!
With her moving suddenly closer to him, he pulled away and knocked his head against the brick wall behind him. Wincing in pain the fox shook his head. "I'm sorry but no, you don't look familiar to me. Should I know you?" He paused a moment and looked suddenly uncomfortable as he eyed her carefully. "Or are you one of Hessat's clients?" That would be the only reason he could come up with if she recongized him. He had been at Lila for over two months now and well, he sometimes had to entertain his company while they waited on him.
But she didn't seem Hessat's type or the kind of person that might be looking for nightly company. Confusion crossed his face even more as his brows came together. Even though she was trying to look as indifferent as possible it was hard to miss that glamour of shock and hope that had been on her face. Suddenly, he felt like a real jackass.
"I'm sorry if I upset you for any reason, especially if its from me not recongizing you. My memory isnt, well, it isn't very good right now." Boy, this was awkward.

So I put my faith in something unknown I'm living on such sweet nothing But I'm tired of hope with nothing to hold I'm living on such sweet nothing Did...she just hear him correctly. Today was one of those times she asked the validity of how good her hearing is. Hearing his sentenced reeled her back into that question. She couldn’t have heard it right... boyfriend? Her face marked the same reactions she held, confusion mixing it in with the budding realization of the horror she’s about to face. Cyrus, lost it... the urge to smash her head on the wall became even more apparent as it lingered in the thresholds of her mind. “Boyfriend?...” She asked slowly, acting as if he said something funny but at the same time the seriousness in the matter hadn’t dissolved the clarity of the situation she was trapped in. Nero will not be pleased with this, but she’s still in the process of debating the logic in revealing this guy’s survival. “Oh that wouldn’t possible, he’s not my taste.” She waved it off off-handedly as she leaned against the wall. Her mind reeled in the possibilities of her little revenge. She called it little due to it not causing him any physical damage. As much... as the temptation of bashing his head with an iron mallet came to her a few times in the span of the minutes during the entirety of their conversation. She couldn’t believe it... he actually couldn’t recognize them. She sighed softly, her hands massaging the growing migraine developing on her head. Typical of Cyrus to induce her centuries year old battle with her migraines, she foresaw an even bigger pain the near future of this madness. Focusing back at him, he looked so much like a kitten who’s trying to put up a brave face towards an injury. In a sense, that’s what adorable about him, always acting like an adorable little pet. Another reason for the headache... but headache or not, it wont save him from facing her justly retribution. “Stood me up? Hardly, would be hilarious though seeing ‘him’ attempt such a feat.” She scoffed, still having her back comfortably leaned against the wall she forced herself back upright, moving to circle him as her long hair followed her move, bouncing at her steps. “Really now? Awww that’s too bad... Really must have hit your head on that river then.” She faked a small pout, making sure it looked real to the eyes of the audience. This was her play now, her stage in the brew she planned on concocting. His next question drew her at a plan, hearing the unknown name spoken from his lips left her confused. It showed on her face as she stopped, tapping her chin with her peck finger. “Hessat? Sorry dear you might have to enlighten me as last time I checked, I’m not a yellow paged book.” She bluntly intoned. “Though kinda curious, what does that mark on your ear mean?” “You should and then you shouldn’t,” She answered his final comment through a careful array of riddles created to send him on an endless loop Anise didn’t planned on making things easy for this man. Call it payback for the headache he’s about to give her. She still needed to explain this to the others. “Shouldn’t you try to figure it out? Wouldn’t be fun now if I answer everything now wouldn’t it?” She obviously knew him but the girl can be somewhat of a lucrative troll... MADE BY VEL OF GS

◤ | ◥ | like you always say, | "safe travels, don't die." | What was up with this girl? Why was she giving him the look like he was going crazy or something? He wasn't going crazy...was he? He didn't think he was but he knew his memory was all kinds of messed up but still. "Oh." Was his only remark towards the poor fella not being her type. Man, must be rought but still she didn't answer his question about why she was pulling his ears. He opened his mouth to reinforce the question but thought better of it. If she wasn't going to tell him then why would she tell him now?
The fox cringed lightly, "Guess it wouldn't end well if someone did leave you hanging, huh?" Lord, he hoped he never got on someones bad side especially this chick. He laughed lightly as if he had tried to make a joke and clearly failed at it. Oh boy. Starling finally dropped his hands from his ears and slipped off the crates as she circled him like a hawk. he did his best to ignore her movements and went for the disguarded apple.
He picked it up from the ground then dusted it off with a frown. Well, this apple wasn't any good now. It had pebbles and hay stuck to it. Yeah, that wasn't edible anymore. He felt a bit deflated and moarned his apple for a half a second. After the brief moment of silence he tossed the fruit down the alley. Oh well, it wasn't like he paid for it.
"Hessat? Oh, well I guess you don't know him then but he is my--wait, what?" All sudden coherent conversation was promptly lost at the mention of a river. The fox gapped at the woman for a second. "River?" The words came out as a mumble and the boy went into instant mental defense mode. How would she know something about that if she didn't know Hessat? "What do you mean? I should and I shouldn't? And what mark? I don't have anything there...do I?" He asked with confusion. His right hand pawed at his ear thinking that there might be something on it, like apple or some kind of black mark from forging.
"You aren't making any sense, Lady." He tired to not let her words get to him but the river comment bothered him most of all.

So I put my faith in something unknown I'm living on such sweet nothing But I'm tired of hope with nothing to hold I'm living on such sweet nothing The satisfaction wasn’t there... she couldn’t feel the same intoxicating drive of a win she used to feel after gaining a victory. Nothing, just...a slight pinch of guilt gained from the blunt unmistakable fact she wanted payback on a clearly amnesiac man. She had to think here, it wasn’t his fault.. wasn’t it? To be tossed by a lurker... Disappearing and eventually marked as death, causing her endless chaos with paperwork...Her eyebrow began to twitch, the sounds around her became a distant blur of fading sounds their presence sinking into the abyss as she began to block out the endless stream of human bodies walking past them. Her eye still followed him though, to the shocked expression that caused him to drop the apple then bending over to pick up his soiled treat. The to the backslash of having to figure out where to get a new blacksmith... other than the one in town that charged double for repairs, that... is how she got rid of the guilt created from having to play the revenge game with him. Cyrus clearly didn’t know what she was talking about. She’s sure this man is their missing fox, who else would be this air-headed about certain things but there was one thing she can safely say he still has its that endless supply of optimism that hadn’t fully faded from his personality. She will definitely end up crucifying this man over a spit for her dinner at this rate, mix feelings raged within her. From the urge to shake the living holy spirit out of him to just... punching him square in the face. Anise didn’t do any of those, one ear still rested close to her surroundings while the other paid its attention towards the fox eared young man. She failed resisting the urge to roll her eyes at his comment. “Do you think I’ll mention it if it wasn’t there? I might enjoy playing games but making something up is a bit boring don’t you think?” She queried, allowing a small tiny smirk to cross the delicate lines of her face, still it held a foreign veil over her innocent appearance. Stuffing her hand into the satchel she carried on her person Anise pulled out a circular object that looked clearly like a compact mirror adorned in a silvery metal she tossed it at him. “Why not take a look if you don’t believe it.” She shrugged, not really giving the appearance of someone who cared if he believed her. She used the wall as something to lean on while she waited for his next sentence. Her gaze never left the man as she continued to study him, she could tell just from how he reacted when she mentioned the river that it troubled him. She debated whether or not to use it as a way of a leverage towards the game she planned. “How about this,” She began straightening back up as she dusted a speck of dust from her dress. “I’ll give you some info...” Her eyes twinkled a bit, pausing as to give him the chance to speak before she continued. “But in exchange you must play a game with me.” MADE BY VEL OF GS

◤ | ◥ | like you always say, | "safe travels, don't die." | This girl seemed to enjoy making his head spin like a top. All she seemed to care about was getting a kick out of watching the Blacksmith get more and more confused. What was he supposed to do about that? Inwardly, he wondered if she really might know him or merely playing him for a fool. Wouldn't Hessat tell him everything he needed to know? As much as that man made him a nervous or at times angry, he still trusted him enough to listen to what he was being told. But a mark on his ear was never really talked about. Maybe, Hessat never noticed it?
He was pulled out of his thoughts at the glimmer of something shinny being tossed at him. In a panic, he desperately tried to catch the compact. But all he did was make it dance around in the air like it was nothing more then a slippery piece of soap. Eventually, he was able to catch it and hold it close with wide eyes. "A little warning would of been nice!" Well, she did kind of giving him a warning but he was off in his own world at that point.
Cracking the compact open he gazed at his own reflection and then back at her with an odd reflection. He was half tempted to toss her the mirror back and tell her off. But a part of him was overly curious on the matter of his ear. With some hesitation he held the mirror up to the side with his head cocked. At first, he didn't see a damn thing but as soon as he moved his ear around he caught sight of something odd. Brushing his hair off to the side he all but dropped that poor compact.
There was a mark behind his ear but the meaning behind it was beyond him. Maybe it was something he always had, a birth mark maybe? Uneasy feeling overcame the fox and he snapped the compact closed a bit too harshly. Then, promptly tossed it back at the young lady. "Okay, so there is something there. What of it?" He decided to try and be disconnected to it that way it wouldn't bother him. But oh, did it bother him that someone knew something about him that he did not!
The offer of sudden information peeked his interested but there was a catch to it. He had to play her game and from living with Hessat, he was heavily hesitant. "I don't do games..." Games let to unwanted attention normally, harm, and other times true embarrassment.
